IP Change

My IP has finally changed. It's now 24.3.244.76. So if you're using the PSP web portal, please change your DNS server to this IP.

When my IP changes, I will also update it in the bar to the right (on the main page).

Ideas

The more and more I dive into HCI, the more and more I realize what I really have a passion for is design.

Up until the last two years, I was convinced that my future lie in coding. I discovered, however, that what really satisfies me is the ability to speak to people through objects I can put into the world -- whether that object be physical or existing only on a screen.

Think of Google. What if you were a UI designer at Google? It's hard not to get a thrill out of the idea that tens of millions of people a day will see your designs.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this, so bear with me.

I've been thinking about ambient information display lately. That is, the idea of presenting information in a way that is minimally demanding on the attention of those perceiving it. Traditionally, people think there needs to be some technology involved when they hear "ambient display," but that's certainly not true. A good example, which I got in a conversation with a Googler, is a pen that is clear so you can see the ink level. The pen stops working, you notice there's no ink, and voila!

My goal is to do an independent study on ambient display next semester.

What else..

The deadline for MOTOFWRD is slowly approaching. I've got a pretty decent idea, but I've yet to write/draw it up. I'll share it with you once the deadline passes.

That is all. Back to reading.

Of Nine Inch Nails and Methods

I should be at a Nine Inch Nails concert right now. I should be at a soundtest / meet and greet with the band.

Instead, my tickets are sitting at Will Call and I'm studying for an HCI Methods test.

The world is unfair.

(And before anyone asks, the tickets were non-transferrable.)
