I have a shitty cold.
I usually don't complain about much, but sickness just pisses me off. It's something to which one must resign. Sure, you can load up with drugs, but you never REALLY feel better until the sickness says: "Ok, I'm done fucking over whatever plans you did have."
Lack of control, no...choice, makes me angry.
So, I have to say that minority-based crap pisses me off. It's especially noticeable here at college. There are thousands of different scholarships out there -- if you're not a white male. If you are unfortunate enough to be such a creature, you are greatly discriminated against. There is no Whites in Schools scholarship, no Men in Science scholarships either. You can however get a scholarship if, among all the white kids applying to college, you are in the top 1% of those applying. It makes no sense why a native of Philippine deserves to get $5000/year for his education -- probably because he was the only one out there to apply for it.
I should limit my frustrations. If a private individual wants to start a scholarship for a certain minority, that's fine -- it's their money. But when I see the government, or even companies, giving money to random minority funds so they can keep a good image or for some other inane reason, I get pissed.
This isn't out of nowhere I should tell you. I read this article before writing.
For those who don't know (and I assume that's most normal people), this year marked the 20th anniversary of the original Famicom being released in japan. The rest of the world would later receive their incarnation of the famicom -- the NES.
To mark this event, Nintendo is doing lots of cool stuff over in the Far East. First we have the famicom games they're re-releasing for Gameboy Advance -- The Legend of Zelda, Ice Climbers, Super Mario Bros, etc. Along with those games, they've also released a new edition of the GBA that has the color scheme of the original famicom. Here:

Even more exciting to me is that they are also releasing a series of soundtracks containing songs from classic games. I've gotten ahold of Volume 1, and the clarity of the sound is amazing. It sounds like a NES, while at the same time sounding better. I'm not sure how to quite describe it, so here is one of my favorite classic songs..."Balloon Trip" from Balloon Fight (one of the most under-estimated games and soundtracks ever).
Click the picture to download "Balloon Trip" (2.2mb)

Mind you, this is track 41 of 99 on the OST -- and this is only volume 1. If you're interested, contact me and I'll get you the hook-up.

So, I've invested the last 4 hours to playing the "new" Metroid for GBA. I feel bad even putting quotes around "new." (As I will explain shortly) For those of you who are deaf to the portable gaming (or gaming in general) world, Metroid: Zero Mission is a remake of the original NES metroid. However, while it borrowed the plot, some areas, etc; for what it borrowed it added in stuff 1:1. You've got stuff from Metroid Prime and you've got stuff from Metroid Fusion. There's also tons of original content. It really is the best Metroid game I've played to date (yes, Super Metroid for SNES has just been eclipsed).
It comes out the 10th, and you can pick it up from BestBuy for $24.99. I've been playing on an emulator, but I fully intend to go buy it ASAP. Of course, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles comes out on the 10th as well. Then later this month you've got Ninja Gaiden for Xbox.
..These are the months gamers live for.
(If you don't have a Metroid OST of some sort on your hard drive, email me...you need one. The music is phenomenal.)
So I broke down and bought a Playstation 2...again. I had one when it first came out, but I never got into it. Recently, however, I've begun repurchasing the consoles I've owned in the past. So, today was PS2's turn I guess. I bought it and Time Crisis III w/ a GUNCON 2 controller (fancy light gun). So far, it's l33t and I want to go out and buy like every Namco light gun game there is for PS2. I'll restrain myself though...for now.
Eventually I hope to have up a "gallery" of sorts showing all the consoles I have. It's more for me than anyone else, but I figure I might as well share it because...well....because.
