Today begins another school year. Nothing new to report. Since I never left Pittsburgh and was working on campus doing sutdious things all summer, I feel like I never left. The only class I had today was Probability & A.I. It went well and I expect it to be a cool class from the overview we got today; we're basically doing classification things which involves Bayesian Networks and Causal Modeling. (Wee-hoo!)

Now, back to playing with my zippo.

Live from CMU!

The freshmen are arriving. It is interesting to sit and observe them; so many different emotions. There's the kids who are pumped to be going to CMU, there's the kids who are just happy to be getting away from their parents/hometowns, there are those scared to death.

Everything from smiles to tears and back again.

I'm out here macking it in my brand new Zelda t-shirt. I'll post a picture later. Let me tell you, this thing is a chick magnet There's a kid next to me playing his acoustic guitar. He's pretty good; good enough that I stopped listening to pink floyd to be tickled by his notes.

Speaking of chicks...I miss mine. :(

Funny but true. In other news, I've just successfully downloaded all the Pantera and Slayer albums at 192kbps. It is time to worship satan and break things.

I've listened to Slayer plenty, but this is my first time sitting down and listening to Pantera for more than 10 minutes. Last time I tried to listen to them was around age 15. I figured I'd give it a go again.

In my quest to cure my infinite boredom, I have set out on a quest to create a compilation album I think a lot of people could appreciate:

You know...like the few rap songs that somehow overcome the inherent characteristic of rap, suqqage, and are actually appealing to those of us who cringe at the release of Ya2PAETHD (Yet another 2-Pac Album Even Though He's Dead).

i've come a long way baby

So...I haven't been able to post for a few days -- moving and the host SQL server going "aiiieeeeek!" and dying were the causes of this. But no fear, I am back, and I have brought with me the single most confusing thing ever.

Been busy moving in to my room the last few days. (As you already know). I picked up some new stuff at Ikea. The results?

The MOVE

Tonight I move. Six feet down the hall and around a corner -- my destination.

I shall begin with the ousting of the current occupant. After his body is thrown down the stai....er....politely asked to leave...I will begin my conquest of the 12' x 14' BEAST of a room.

I have obtained all my supplies -- a matress, sheets, pillows, and a bed frame. Then, as the night moves on, furniture will begin to enter. It will be a symphony of creaking wood and sliding chairs, and oh how it will be amazing.

Moving sucks.

In the Name of "ZzZ"

I went mattress shopping tonight -- it's truly an interesting experience; laying your entire body on a plethora of floor models that have been used by hundreds, if not thousands, of other people. While some were extremely comfortable, you cannot help but think how many people you are currently "in bed" with.

I ended up decided on the Simmons Backcare 200 Series. It's incredibly comfrtable and even has a pillow-top for super-extra comfort! yikez.

I'll be moving into my new room Sunday/Monday. It's just about 6 feet away, but it's a big step up from where I was. By that I mean I'm going from what was a 9.5' x 10' room to a 12 x 16 room. It doesn't sound like much, but let me tell you -- it's so much bigger. Of course, rent is also $85/mo. more. I need my space though.

I've been storming Ikea for furniture/lighting. They have some badass track lighting. I also got some cool silverware from them called "Dragon." It's really nice in terms of quality (18/10 if you know what that means) and was only $14.95 for 20pcs.

Next on the agenda is sheets. Tomorrow I conquer JCPenney and the "Buy 1, get 1 for $1" sale. It should be exciting.
